Weekly Update (message dated 1/8/2021)

Good afternoon Wildcat Community and Happy New Year!  There are several updates and reminders this week that I would like to share with you.  Thank you in advance for reading a lot of information.

Athletics - Our winter sports season is slated to begin on Monday and all information about winter sports can be found on the athletics page of our website.  If you have questions regarding athletics you can contact the assistant principal of athletics, Mr. Margheim at margheimga@staffordschools.net

Town Hall - Our town hall to answer questions about our hybrid model of instruction or virtual instruction will be next Thursday, January 14th at 7:00 PM.  I ask that you submit your questions in advance by using the link below.  All questions are due by Tuesday, January 12th.

Hybrid vs Virtual Survey - Our survey for parents to select hybrid or virtual for second semester for your student has closed.  We are currently calling parents who did not answer the survey.

If you wish to check to ensure your choices are accurate parents may view their recorded instructional model and transportation selections for their secondary student’s second semester through ParentVue. The assigned student schedule group (A or B) is also located in ParentVue. PLEASE NOTE:  We cannot change the assigned A or B group.  We can change the hybrid/virtual choice and transportation choice.  To make a change please email our registrar Pam Beebe at beebepl@staffordschools.net

Here are the steps to access that information to review:

Through the ParentVue App:

Open the App
Log into ParentVue. (Please contact your student’s school for an access code to ParentVue if you do not have one.)
If you have more than one SCPS student, select the student you wish to view from the top left.
Select ‘Student Info’ from the tabs on the left.
When the ‘Student Info’ screen is displayed, you will see an ‘Additional Information’ section at the bottom right.  When clicked on, you will find your child’s preferred educational model and transportation information under the ‘Other Data’ heading.

Through Accessing ParentVue via a Web Browser:

Log into ParentVue. (Please contact your student’s school for an access code to ParentVue if you do not have one.)
If you have more than one SCPS student, select the student you wish to view from the top left.
Select ‘Student Info’ from the tabs on the left.
When the ‘Student Info’ screen is displayed, scroll down to the bottom ‘Other Data Info’ section where you will find your child’s preferred educational model and transportation information.
Groups are subject to change to balance class sizes. You will be informed of any changes.

If you need help with your parentvue account you can email our counseling secretary, Mrs. Halstead at halsteadsm@staffordschools.net.

Registration for Next Year - Registration for the 2021-22 school year will begin next week.  An email was sent yesterday to parents of 9-11 graders regarding this process.  If you have questions regarding this process please contact your child's counselor.

Parking at School - Many questions have come in about driving to and parking at school.  Students will be permitted to drive and park at school this year, and for the spring semester of 2020-21 there will be NO charge for permits.  We do ask that parents/students register their car and obtain a permit.  The form is attached at the bottom, and students do not need to get permits in advance.  Students can bring the form with them the first day, turn them in, and get a permit.  Additionally, we will not be assigning spots this year, rather it will be open parking on a arrival basis.

Rising Freshmen Night - If you do happen to have an 8th grader at home, we will be having a virtual Rising Freshmen Night on Thursday, January 28th.  More information will be coming out through middle schools soon.

SOL Testing - SOL Testing is set to begin on January 21st.  The schedule is below:

January 21:  Science

January 22:  Reading

January 25:  History (AM) Writing (PM)

January 26:  Math

Any student who needs to take an SOL Test must take the test in-person at the school.  A survey has been sent multiple times requesting parents to respond if students are coming to test or not.  If you didn't get a survey or have questions about SOL Testing please contact our testing coordinator Ms. Reynolds at reynoldsad@staffordschools.net

Yearbooks - If you wish to order a yearbook you can do so using the link below:

http://www.yearbookordercenter.com/

PLEASE NOTE:  Last year we sold out of yearbooks so if you want one please order in advance.  If you have questions about the yearbook you can contact our yearbook sponsor Mrs. Riner at rinerem@staffordschools.net.

I know I have given a lot of information today, but I do hope you found it useful.  Please use the contact information of those listed under each section should you have questions.

I hope everyone has a great weekend,

J. Stemple
